Bremen City Schools | Senior Homestead Exemption Ballot Information
As early voting begins in Haralson County on Tuesday, October 13, Bremen City Schools would like to provide information about a proposed senior homestead tax exemption that will appear on the November 3, 2026, ballot for eligible voters.
What is House Bill 1552, Act 591?
The ballot measure asks voters whether to replace the existing $10,000 homestead exemption from Bremen City School District property taxes for qualifying senior homeowners with a new exemption of $90,000 of the assessed value of their homestead.
Under the proposed measure:
Age Requirement: Homeowners must be 65 years of age or older.
Residency and Tax History: Homeowners must have resided in the Bremen City School District and paid school district property taxes for at least five consecutive years.
Exemption Amount: Qualifying homeowners would receive an exemption of up to $90,000 of their homestead's assessed value from school district property taxes.
Existing Exemption Recipients: Individuals currently receiving the senior exemption would automatically receive the new exemption.

A YES vote approves the proposed change to the senior homestead exemption.
A NO vote rejects the proposed change, leaving the existing exemption in place.

Twenty-one ago, Paul lost his life in service to our country. Today, we honor his memory and the lasting impact he made on our community.
