STEM EDUCATION
What is STEM?
STEM is an acronym that represents the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. STEM education encourages a cross-curriculum approach to teaching and learning which incorporates concepts and standards across these disciplines of study for students. In Georgia, schools have an opportunity to work toward becoming STEM-certified programs or schools.
As a system, we are actively pursuing having STEM-certified programs at each of our schools. However, it is a process, and it requires deliberate planning and preparation. Extensive STEM-related activities currently exist in all of our schools, and we will continue to expand and refine what we offer our students as we move further toward becoming certified.
