Presidential Service Award

    

     This award was designed by President Bush to encourage volunteerism in children.  In order to obtain the award students must perform service activities and document them on a log sheet.  All logs must be submitted to the Counselor’s Office by April 30, 2008.  In order to earn the award, students must have the following hours:

 

50-74 hours – Bronze Award

74-99 hours – Silver Award

100+ hours - Gold Award

 

Volunteer Activities for Kids

 

● Take out trash for an elderly neighbor

● Do yard work for a sick or elderly neighbor

● Pick up trash in your community

● Collect food and clothing for a food bank

● Bake cookies for a sick friend or neighbor

● Visit a nursing home

● Make artwork/gifts for nursing home residents

● Collect materials to be recycled

Babysit for a family member or friend

● Help a younger child with homework

● Make thank you notes for service men and women
