Text Box: Course Overview The purpose of this course is to increase student knowledge and ability in skills necessary for everyday living. Topics included will be self-assessment relating to others, post secondary education, careers, employment, consumerism, money management, housing, food, marketing and preparation, clothing choices and care. There is special emphasis on using the community as a classroom. This course gives the type of knowledge needed by everyone for everyday living. (Time frame dependent on teacher discretion and class composition.)

Study Skills

This course is designed for college preparatory and technical students receiving special education services.

The purpose of this class is to provide additional opportunities to complete assignments given to students in their various course loads. Students are taught organizational skills, effective study methods, career/educational planning, and given review sessions for both EOCTs and GHSGTs. Students will be developing an ongoing working portfolio in which they will be researching and planning for their futures.

Students should strive for good attendance, hold high standards of behavior, have a cooperative attitude and work ethic, and strive for excellence in academics. It is the ultimate goal of the teacher that my students will develop into organized, self motivated, responsible learners.
