  1. Physical Science serves as an introduction into two main branches of science: Physics and Chemistry. Our time in this class will be divided among both of these branches. Physics covers broad subjects such as motion and forces, while chemistry is based on activity at the molecular level.
  2. Units

General

-         Intro to scientific methods and procedures.

-         Metric system

             Physics

-         Motion and Forces

-         Work and Energy

-         Heat and Temperature

-         Waves

-         Sound and Light

-         Electricity

-         Magnetism

               Chemistry

-         Nature of Matter

-         Periodic Table

-         Chemical Bonding

-         Chemical Reaction

-         Acid Base Identification

  1. Grading Scale (%is of Final Grade)

-         Tests 65%                               - Daily (home/class work, labs, ect.) 20%

-         EOCT 15%

  1. Textbook Holt Science Spectrum: Physical Science

6. Materials

    - Notebook: loose leaf binder (able to take papers in and out)

-Pencil or Pen (Be sensible with color of ink. If I cannot read it, I can not grade it.)

    - Calculator (Highly recommended, NO GRAPHING CALCULATORS!!!!!!!!)

    -Lab Supplies (as needed)

    - Colored Pencils (Recommended, but not required)

  1. Expectations

-         Be respectful and considerate at all times.

-         Come to class on time and prepared (with supplies)

-         Complete and turn in work when assigned. Work not turned in by required date will result in a grade of 0 for that assignment.

-         When absent, it is the responsibility of the student to acquire the makeup work. This means asking for work that was missed or scheduling a date to make up a test. Since labs are so tedious to set up and are often completed as a group, a research assignment will be assigned in the instance of a missed lab. You have 3 days to obtain the missed work and 5 to turn it in before a grade of 0 is issued.

-         No sleeping or laying head down in class will be tolerated.

-         Participation in class discussion is a must. You have to be involved to be productive.

-         No writing on desk or chairs.

-         No leaning back in chairs (this is for the safety of both you and the chairs)

-         Water is the only thing allowed in class, No food, cokes, or gum.
