Coats' Notes

I will continue testing each student on Fluency (ELA7R3) during the next two weeks.  This will allow me to assess each student and help them increase their speed, tone and comprehension.  Look for passages to come home.  Ask your child to read aloud to you.

Parents are always asking me what they can do to help their children succeed in Reading.  Research shows that students who read a half-hour or more each day have higher test scores.  Students who watch three or fewer hours of television daily scored higher on test than those who reported watching more television.  Research also shows that students who discussed their studies at home daily, weekly or monthly had higher scores than those who said they never discussed schoolwork at home.  Parent involvement is a large part of student success.

Feel free to contact me at 770-537-4874 Ext. 2048 or by email at pam.coats@bremencs.com.  Email is the best way to reach me.  I love to email parents good notes!

LATE WORK

I do not take late work.  For excused absences, the student may turn work in the next day.  All homework and assignments are posted on the homework area of my board.  It is the student’s responsibility to copy all homework and assignments down and turn it in on time.  Please check your child’s agenda daily.  This is the best way for you to know what your child is responsible for each week.
