Advanced Personal Fitness

Syllabus C. CLARK

Course objective: To have an understanding of the process you must undertake to become physically fit. We will discuss eating habits, proper diet, and proper training. We will do weight training, walk/run, jump rope, and different stretching techniques.

GRADING:

1. You must dress out each day in appropriate clothing. [T-Shirt, proper length shorts or sweat shirt, sweat pants, athletic shoes].

2. If you fail to dress out, you will get one point taken off your daily participation grade.

3. If you miss class for any reason other than school related Five points will be taken off your participation grade. If it is an excused absence you can make it up.

4. First nine weeks you have a participation grade [100%]. The second nine weeks you have a participation grade [50%] and a fitness test grade [50%].

5. Fitness Grade: You are tested in six areas [20 min. run, shuttle run, push ups, sit ups, jump rope, and sit/ reach [flexibility].

6. Each student will receive a fitness rubric. This will explain what you must do in each area.

7. If you don’t participate one day, you will get Five points taken off your participation grade and you will not be able to make it up.

8. Make – up work: For every lap you run around the top of the gym, you will add one point back to your participation grade. For every lap you run around the track you will add two points back to your participation grade. If you are unable to run you will be given a written assignment to do.
