2008 Tanner Weight Loss Challenge

Change Your Lifestyle. Change Your Life. Challenge the biggest enemy to a healthier lifestyle:  yourself. Now in its third year, the Tanner Weight Loss Challenge has proved again and again that improved nutritional habits and exercise can change a person’s life. The Tanner Weight Loss Challenge is a 6-month program designed to encourage individuals to lose weight through diet and exercise while gaining the knowledge needed to keep the weight off. We conduct monthly weigh-ins to track the weight loss of the participants.  It’s never too late to join the program, so if you are ready to start changing your life, give us a call.

The 2008 Tanner Weight Loss Challenge initial weigh-ins are complete! Tanner Weight Loss Challenge contestants and community members have a total starting weight of 55,865.25 pounds and 35,043.75 inches. Watch each month as these numbers shrink down and residents of west Georgia become healthier. Weigh-ins are currently being done. If you missed your weigh-in, you may weigh-in at Tanner Health Source anytime during business hours Monday, February 18 – Wednesday, February 27.

Visit the Giant Heart at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton

The heart model has made its rounds through the Tanner facilities across west Georgia. The model is now at the new Tanner Heart and Vascular Center at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton, where it can be seen starting Monday, February 25. You will see what a heart looks like, how it functions and what can go wrong with the heart. Kids will love it as it is interactive, with buttons that show the various parts of the heart and how a heart attack happens.  It also displays how to decrease one’s chances of having a heart attack.

“As Tanner’s cardiac services continue to grow, so does Tanner’s efforts to educate area residents about the dangers of heart disease,” said Loy Howard, president and CEO of Tanner Health System. “This model is going to provide visitors to Tanner’s facilities with an interactive opportunity to explore the structure of the heart and how to help keep their heart healthy. As cardiovascular disease continues to be a leading cause of death in Georgia, we hope this model will help increase awareness about the disease and how to help prevent it.”
