Parents I list what we do in class, so you will know what we are doing. Any assignments not finished should be finished at home. I list the assignments by what they should be labeled by your child, how it appears on our  agenda board  and in your child’s agenda.

Plans are subject to change.

Blue Ridge intent letters due wed. oct. ,1will accept them late if you wish your child to go on this exciting outdoor adventure.

Am I a parent volunteer?

Turn in all request to be a parent Volunteer to Mrs. Butler in the office.

Parents understand that your letter to be a parent volunteer is only a request, it does not automatically mean you will be chosen to be a volunteer for the trip.

Parents that are chosen will be notified in March.

Procedure:  Roll the clay into three flat pieces. Each piece will represent a rock layer. 

In one layer make a trace fossil, make footprints in the clay.

In one layer make a natural cast by imprinting the  seashell in that layer.

Take one of the animal stickers to represent a permineralization fossil

 

1.   Label each rock layer youngest to oldest, by using the number 1 as the oldest and 3 as the youngest.

Write down the oldest rock layer and what fossil was on it, write down the next to oldest rock layer and what fossil was on it,and finally write down the youngest rock layer and what fossil was on it, explain relative dating and how this lab relates to it.

4. What does the clay represent?

 

5. What kind of fossil does the animal sticker represent?
