The Kindergarten Crew News
We are very pleased to have Miss
Wilkes as our student teacher this semester.
She is a senior student at The University of West Georgia and as soon as
she completes her time with us she will graduate! She has added much to our room and we all
will hate to see her go!
Spring is here! We have a
busy few months ahead of us! Report cards go home April 2nd. This
will be the third time this year that you have gotten a formal report and we
hope that you have a clear picture of what skills your child needs to improve. Our year together is rapidly coming to an end
there is so much to learn, think, and do! The Take Home Readers we are sending
home are giving the children the practice that they need. It is so important
for the children to practice these newly emerging reading skills. The field trip to the aquarium has given us
so much to think and write about. Be
sure to check your child’s folder as well as the school monthly calendar for
upcoming events.

During P.E. weeks be sure your child wears tennis type shoes. We are concentrating on building our sight
word vocabulary and blending sounds into words. At this point in the year the
children should be “chunking” several words together as they read rather than
reading word by word. We are also
stressing understanding what we are reading. Thank you for all the support you
have given us this year. Please continue
to stay involved in your child’s school experiences.
Our character stars this
year:
Chloe Jackson for Responsibility; Malik
Hart for Honesty; Shoya Nagashima
for respect; Jamie Hindman for generosity; Ethan
Baker for forgiveness and Hope Atkinson
for compassion. In March we are focusing on patience.
We have a very difficult time choosing our stars. May of the children exhibit the character
trait! It’s a wonderful dilemma to have!
Happy
Birthday!!!!!
