We’re Off to a Great Start!

All the children are doing a wonderful job transitioning to our kindergarten setting. We are so pleased with them so pat yourselves on the back for all that you have done to make this BIG step so successful! We also appreciate your generosity. Every child has returned the library books! What a record for you!

Upcoming Standards and topics:

Recognizing and writing all the letters of the alphabet including “funny a and g”. We are emphasizing the lowercase letters.

Listening skills for recall of information.

The names of planar shapes as well as the sphere and cube.

Sorting, numerals names and formations of 0-5, patterning.

Nursery rhymes and rhyming words.

Fall and apples.

Our daily schedule:

Morning Routine-unpacking, sign-in and table activities

CAMP Time – we have been in music for two weeks and now for the next 8 weeks we will be in the gyms with either Coach Mouser or Coach Pirch. A Big Thanks for remembering the TENNIS SHOES! November 11^th we will begin 2 weeks in the computer lab.

Tuesdays are our day in the media center with Mrs. Perkins. Our books are due no later than Tuesday mornings. We are in the media center from 10:45 -11:15.

Ticket out the Door during this time we ask the children a question about something we’ve worked on that day to help them recall activities and to bridge the transition to home so that they can more easily tell you about the day.

September 25^th is the time of our first conference. Appointments are scheduled from 12:30 until 6:15 in only 15 minutes time slots. I will be available in the afternoons after the children are dismissed on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (September 22 through September 24^th) from 2:15 until 4PM on those days if you would like those days and times better. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT WE MEET!!
