Amy Bumgardner, Debra Long, and
PURPOSE:
Children
start school at a designated chronological age, but differ greatly in their
individual development and experience base.
The Early Intervention Program (EIP) is designed to serve students who
are at risk of not reaching or maintaining academic grade level. The purpose of the Early Intervention Program
is to provide additional instructional resources to help students who are
performing below grade level obtain the necessary academic skills to reach
grade level performance in the shortest possible time.

WHAT WE DO:
We
reinforce the skills that are taught in the classroom through remediation and
acceleration. Students are given more
individualized instruction in a small group setting. Each EIP teacher works closely with the
Kindergarten classroom teacher.
Amy Bumgardner works with Mrs. Stevens, Mrs. Clark, and Mrs. McInvale
Debra Long works
with Mrs. Fortner, Mrs. Harper, and Mrs. Sewell
TIPS FOR PARENTS:
Read often and read materials that interest your child.
Review letter and number recognition using flash cards (out
of sequence).
Use small dry erase boards to practice writing letters,
numbers, and sight words.
Review all school work and target problem areas.
Use computer programs and educational toys that target
kindergarten skills.
