Called Board of Education Meeting

November 16, 2007

The Bremen Board of Education met in a called meeting on Friday, November 16, 2007, at 7:30 a.m.  The purpose of the meeting was to consider a class size waiver request.  All board members were present with the exception of Cliff Coats who was absent from the meeting.

The board approved a class size waiver application for the third grade at Jones Elementary (Motion: Rob Walker, Second: Brandall Lovvorn, vote 4-0).  The current state maximum class size is 21 students per class and the system is requesting a maximum of 23 students per class.  These applications will be submitted to the Georgia Department of Education in order to fulfill the requirements of the law governing class sizes.  The waiver was necessary due to unexpected growth in this grade.  This unexpected growth was not enough to create a new class and the system did not have adequate classroom space for a new class.

            The meeting was adjourned.
