Called Board of Education Meeting

October 26, 2006

The Bremen Board of Education met in a called meeting at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2006, to discuss the Carroll County ELOST and to consider certain business matters.  All board members were present.

The board and the superintendent discussed the time-line to resolve the percentage split on the Carroll County ELOST with Carroll County Schools, Carrollton City Schools, and the Bremen City Schools.

The board approved a study to be conducted by Applied Engineering on a possible new school site after a motion was made by Rob Walker and seconded by Gordon Parrish, (vote 5-0).  On a motion made by Rob Walker and second by Brandall Lovvorn, the board voted in favor of the proposal by Securiant for the purchase of security equipment, software, and a maintenance contract for the school system network (vote 5-0).  An amendment to the contract with Allen’s Lawn Care, owned and operated by Mr. Kenneth Snow, was approved by the board (Motion: Rob Walker, Second: Gordon Parrish, vote 5-0).  This contract amendment upgrades the lawn maintenance for the school system.

In the area of personnel the board accepted a recommendation by the superintendent to hire additional paraprofessional services at the Crossroads Academy due to growth and diversity in the students at this facility (Motion: Rob Walker, Second: Gordon Parrish, vote 5-0).

The board also received updated information on the senior citizens exemption which is currently allowed by Haralson County.

          The meeting was adjourned.
