The Bremen Board of Education was called to order and went into session on Monday, March 10, 2008, and the first item of business was the approval of the agenda and consent agenda items with one noted change in the minutes.

The board heard the system financial report from the superintendent.

Under new business the following actions were taken:

·    Approved the agreement between the Bremen Board of Education and RA-LIN and Associates, Inc for Bremen Middle School-New Athletic Complex.  Work will include the construction of a softball/baseball field, a football/soccer field, a track with various field events stations, concession stand and restrooms, and associated fencing.

·    Heard a proposal from Jones Elementary on the adoption of a math textbook for the next school year.  Teachers from Jones Elementary presented the Harcourt Math series to the board for consideration.  The board also heard a proposal from Bremen High School math teachers on the adoption of McDougal Littell math text for Math 1 & 2.  The Harcourt and McDougal Littell books matched the Georgia Performance Standards and had not only paper editions, but on-line editions for students and parents.  The texts also had many resources for assisting teachers in differentiating their instruction.  It was emphasized that the math texts would be resources to be utilized in addition to teacher made units.  The board approved the adoption of both textbooks, as well as the immediate purchase of these textbooks.

·    Approved the After School Enrichment Program.

·    Approved the Band Booster By-Laws.

·    Approved the BHS/SMS Fundraiser requests.
